JOB DESCRIPTION
The Search Products unit of CBS Interactive is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to fill an important role in designing, developing, maintaining and improving our search services. Responsibilities will primarily involve supporting, extending and innovating around existing in-house systems and may also include prototyping new products in a 'Labs' context.
The top candidate for this position will have an understanding of high traffic web applications, ad servers, and internet search/information retrieval products, and will have experience applying this knowledge to key business objectives. Our new Software Engineer must be able to communicate software design and development status to all project stakeholders.This detail-oriented and big-picture aware candidate must have a passion for their work and a can-do attitude!

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Very high technical competence, track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments
- 3+ years relevant experience working with fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams
- Linux, Apache, mod_perl & php expertise
- Experience owning/managing a large code base
- Understanding of high-traffic web site management including operations, monitoring, load balancing, code deployment, troubleshooting and reporting
- Experience communicating business and code requirements to team members, management and other cross-functional business units
- Knowledge of information retrieval fundamentals
- Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
- Proven track record for product delivery
- Experience with PHP, Ajax, CSS, Javascript and mySQL is desired
- Familiarity with Google Adsense and contextually targeted advertising is desired
- Experience with internet search applications and information retrieval software desired
- Experience with rapid prototyping, usability, design and integrating open source data/applications desired
