THE POSITION
Pop Art is looking for a proven leader to shape our technology consulting practice and manage, mentor and coach our team of developers.
As the Director of Software Development Services, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with Pop Art Executive Management to chart a course that inspires the team and provides a roadmap for success as our company continues to evolve into one of the worlds leading interactive marketing agencies.
As the supervisor of our development team, you will be responsible for recruiting, retaining and growing a team of developers. You will provide coaching and training to your team through code reviews, learning and growth plans, regular check-ins, and semi-annual performance reviews. You will also mentor Pop Art team members in both hard and soft skills.
You will serve as a senior-level counterpart to our VP of Client Services, VP of Strategy and Creative Director, providing technical strategic direction to our clients. Interactive strategy is increasingly dependent on technical expertise and experience, and our clients will look to you to establish technology platforms to support brand and product strategies. You will also lead technical consulting engagements and represent our technology discipline in business development.
You will interact frequently with executives and managers to identify opportunities, needs, challenges and risks. This requires strong requirements gathering capabilities as well as creative problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
This position requires you to be active in the technology and business community. You should enjoy meeting with clients, coworkers and community leaders both formally and informally.
You will define and refine software development processes, including coding standards, quality standards, application security, technical documentation standards, and ensure that the processes and practices are followed.
A fundamental requirement of this role is software expertise and hands-on coding in the Microsoft development stack and other platforms. While Pop Art is a Microsoft Certified Partner, we are technology-neutral and embrace numerous platforms, including open source and Java. We are looking for a director capable of leading our multi-platform strategy.
Were looking for a director who is comfortable creating resource leverage with a mix of internal and external developers, including employees, contractors and other agencies, and offshore resources.

Salary for this position will be based on the candidates qualifications.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
– A minimum of 4 years as Director or Associate Director of Technology / Development / Engineering (or equivalent position), including experience in interactive application development
– Management experience (employees and vendors)
– Experience developing professional, transactional web solutions; comfortable writing code as needed
– Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)
– Microsoft Certifications
– Outgoing personality and a sense of humor
– Exceptional communication skills w/ the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business groups
– Problem solving skills, e.g., when faced with complex hardware/software configuration problems
– Exceptional interpersonal skills, including: the ability to build positive business relationships and work in a collaborative environment at all levels of an organization, the ability to build teams across functions, and the ability to positively inspire and motivate others
