The LinkedIn Communication Engineering team designs systems that allow our 60M+ users to communicate. We focus on scaling our massive communication system infrastructure to optimize the way emails and messages are delivered taking into account our usersÂ’ needs, preferences and state of the art technologies while filtering out suspicious or harmful content. We are also responsible for the inbox and constantly improving the user experience as well as the performance of the various inbox functionalities such as searching.

* Scale LinkedIn’s communication system infrastructure to meet future growth needs.
* Improve the efficiency of messages sent.

* Contribute in a major way in infrastructure improvements and product innovation and direction.

Required Skills:* Must be a driven and passionate engineer willing to push your limits and be rewarded with noticeable professional growth.
* Hands-on development experience building distributed internet-scale systems.
* Expert knowledge of Java/J2EE and object-oriented design.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, test-driven collaborative and iterative programming environment
* Strong understanding of the server side software, scalability, performance and reliability aspects
* Prior industry experience or participation in open source projects (Java-based) is a plus
* Experience with Scala programming language is a plus
* Experience scaling large consumer facing email systems is a plus
* BS in Computer Science and up to 5 years experience or equivalent
