SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:

The Android Platform team in Motorola’s Sunnyvale office is looking for a highly skilled software engineer to help deliver innovative, compelling user interfaces on Motorola’s Android phones. This is a senior level position and involves working on a variety of broad and complex user interface problems at the system level. We are a small, highly motivated team of top-notch programmers responsible for the core user experience on our Android products. The ideal candidate would be a strong programmer with excellent communication skills who is interested in tackling problems across multiple functional areas — graphics, UI elements, and input sensors. The candidate should be comfortable at all levels in a UI framework, from low to high. This position involves contributing at every step of the process — designing, coding, and debugging, and ultimately delivering products that will be in the hands of millions of consumers.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• 6+ years developing complex software systems, with 3+ years of experience with UI
framework design
• Excellent C and C++/Java coding skills
• Knowledge of Object-oriented design
• Excellent communications skills
• Ability to work on a small, fast-paced, enthusiastic team
• A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
• Tack-sharp analytical ability — you should be able to dive into mounds of new code and pick

S/he must be able to work cooperatively within a team environment and demonstrate a passion for technology and life-long learning.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• BSCS or equivalent education

• 5 – 10 years of software development experience

• At least two years of experience implementing and releasing projects using Java

• Experience using Tomcat or another servlet container

• Basic understanding of database programming and SQL

• Become a technical authority on graphics programming and optimization
• Work flexibly acting as both an advisor to other teams and an implementor prepared to jump in and get the job done.

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar and 5+ years graphics programming experience
