In particular, our team is looking for an engineer who has experience and ambition in developing software using the Blackberry platform. Our goal is add somebody to our team who can:

• Collaborate with Bb Mobile engineers and explore creative opportunities on the Blackberry platform, and other devices.

• Help continue to extend Blackboard’s mobile platform and existing functionality to the Blackberry platform, and other devices.

• Be responsible for breaking down large/complex problems and be involved and/or lead the process of design and implementation of solutions.

• Contribute feedback and guidance to the development of functional and technical specifications.
• Work with other developers to set standards and define best practices for coding and design.
• Shape the future of eLearning and Campus Mobility by helping develop the next generation of mobile products.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of software design and development experience in commercial large scale, multiplatform environments.

• 4+ years of software design and development experience using Java and familiar with Eclipse and other development environments.

• Should be familiar with version control (Subversion)

• Must be familiar with the event-dispatching UI pattern (such as Swing).

• Experience building Blackberry Applications using the Blackberry API is a plus—a strong preference is reserved for applicants who have contributed to Applications that have been available to the public

• Experience code-signing and finalizing applications for distribution is a plus.

• Expertise of advanced software engineering concepts, most importantly object oriented design.

• A firm understanding of building mobile applications that utilize web-services (either HTTP based, XML, SOAP, JSON or other services), in order to tie our applications to critical server-side APIs.
• Ability to contribute to or lead a team of engineers in cross-functional teams (including QA, Product Management, Performance Engineering, etc).

• Expertise or familiarity with well-designed user interfaces, specifically for Blackberry or other common mobile devices.

Blackberry App Developer Intern (Philadelphia, PA)

Ranter is seeking a Blackberry Application Developer Intern to develop the Ranter Blackberry app. This person MUST have experience developing Blackberry apps. This person would also help assist our CTO when necessary with building out the core messaging platform and API.

We recently placed 2nd at the Drexel University business plan competition (www.lebow.drexel.edu/Centers/Baiada/Entrepreneur/Conference.php) – receiving funding, office space, and other services. Our company has been profiled in the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Business Journal. You will be working with 3 other passionate entrepreneurs who have combined previously raised ~ $1.5 million dollars in funding and sold 2 companies.

This is a 3 month part-time paid internship.
