We have an immediate need for a good developer with strong experience working in content management systmes and PHP frameworks.

The gig: do some minor feature development on an existing custom CMS built on CakePHP. The site is for a major magazine publisher. Task might include:

 

  • Having the CMS create an RSS feed as documents are added.
  • Building out some templates to display dynamic content.
  • Adding user-facing search.
  • Adding user registration.
  • Adding a “most popular” module.

 

So, as you see, basic web dev tasks. The ideal candidate knows CakePHP, but strong php framework knowledge will suffice.

The hourly rate is very competitve. The gig is for 7-10 days. The need is IMMEDIATE.

If this gig goes well, I’ll try to hire you for other projects!

Overall for this project it is about a dozen “stock” contributions that need installed, with 1-2 that might need some modifying. The osCmax version of osCommerce already comes pre-installed with about 30-40 popular contributions, so that saves a lot of time. I just need to add a few others that werent part of the standard package, and make everything work together.

The final site is going to be used to sell beads, jump rings, and related jewelry supplies.

Some of the core things I want to add to it are “loyalty” points, one page checkout, shipping estimation, “ask a question” box, “how did you hear about us” box, paypal integration, pdf invoices, sales statistics, tracking statistics, and USPS shipping. I also want to add quantity discounts per product, and discounts by order total.

Also a must is integration with Google Analytics, and their clickthrough tracking. I plan on doing a lot of ads with them, and want to be able to see if they are worth it or not.

With the shipping I need it to give a free/discount shipping option for ground/standard delivery. While at the same time offering the option to pay for Overnight or 2-day shipping.

At the same time this needs to work with the “One page Checkout” system.

Let me know if you can do this, what the cost would be, or if you have any other questions. My overall budget for this is around $500-$800 US, and I would very much like it ready to go in the next 2-4 weeks.

Silver Dynamics has an immediate opening for a Mid to Senior Level PHP Web Developer position. Join us in building the next generation of Orthdontic/Medical patient management systems! This position involves remote work (work from home!), contractor relationship (no taxes withheld!), and the opportunity to work with engineers with a combined experience of over 50 years in software development!

This position will require you to be an expert in certain areas. You might be asking, “what do we consider an expert?”. Good question. An expert involves mastery knowledge of the subject; the ability to dream a solution and apply it the next morning (we bet you do this all the time); the preference of vacationing to OSCON rather than Hawaii, the ability to spot Suraski at a conference and ask for a signature (OK, that is a bit weird, but you get the idea).

Required Skills:

- Solid understanding of Object Oriented PHP 5.2+ and design patterns.

- MySQL, PostgreSQL, we all scream for SQL!

- Javascript / jQuery / Ajax

- HTML/CSS Expert
- Versioning control, SVN / GIT

- Linux/UNIX systems and remote work development

- Apache

- Continuous Integration (Hudson, phpUnderControl)

- A secret love-affair with MVC architectural design patterns. Kohana/Codeigniter a strong plus!

- Experience with cloud computing, Amazon EC2, FathomDB, etc.

- Unit testing / Selenium experience.
