Senior Java J2EE Developer (Western Chicago Suburbs)

We are looking for people to fill a technical Java / J2EE developer role as part of a global support team for a company who develops and sells packaged and customized software products. Developers need to be senior level and be comfortable working on recently developed, existing applications with potential interface with companies clients.

Experience in trouble shooting applications and providing support on code authored by other developers is a must. Developer will be responsible for debugging, defect identification and defect correction, sometimes in the absence of complete technical documentation. In addition to debugging and fixing functional issues, the Developer may also be asked to work on enhancements and new application development.

In the Support role, the Developer will report directly to a production support lead. Support requests are vetted as actual problems or approved projects before handed to the Support Engineer / developer. Strong SQL skills to be able to identify and fulfill client data requests are a plus.

Must be able to be available for a 24X7 hour on-call rotation (and able to provide 1 hour or less response time) on a periodic basis, in primary and secondary support roles. These positions also require frequent late night, post 10:00 PM work and maintenance windows.

Requirements:

- Minimum of 5 years HANDS-ON Java development using technologies like Hibernate and Spring framework within a J2EE environment
- Must have previous Application Development Support in a fast paced complex environment.
- Strong J2EE
- Strong JSP
- Strong SQL Server / relational DB skills
- Experience in data mapping and manipulation
- Development experience with JBoss and/or Tomcat
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines

Pluses:

- Experience performing code merges and application releases
- JUnit
- Computer science degree or similar
