ZipZapPlay is a profitable startup looking for a great software engineer and systems architect who will wear many hats and touch all aspects of our server code from optimization, to metrics, to scaling and operations.
Who are we looking for?
- You have at least 2 years industry experience with object oriented code development
- You can optimize performance keeping in mind real world Internet considerations such as:
- HTML and javascript optimizations
- PHP, MySQL, and Memcached optimizations
- Content Delivery Networks
- You are familiar with design patterns and like to design clean, re-usable code
- You can quickly learn any new language or technology
- You have a strong interest in social games and scaling large applications with millions of users
You get bonus points if you:
- Have previous experience scaling Web applications to be used by millions of people
- Cringe at the thought of copying and pasting large chunks of code instead of refactoring
- Have experience with Amazon EC2+S3, CentOS, Rightscale, or content delivery networks
- Have experience with Actionscript 3, Flex, PHP, or MySQL
- Have previously worked at a startup
What would be your responsibilities?
- Develop scalable server side PHP and MySQL to support millions of players
- Develop and execute a plan for scaling a cluster of virtual LAMP machines to many millions of users
- Instrument and optimize gaming applications to improve performance
- Research and implement recent technologies such as Cassandra to improve performance and scalability
- Build a solid foundation upon which many games will be based
