Front-End Developer (Back Bay)

Brunello Creative–an award-winning Boston web design, development and marketing agency–is looking for a talented Front-End Developer to join our team.

In this full-time, on-site position, the Front-end Developer will collaborate closely with the design and implementation teams, while working from requirements, wireframes, and layered PSDs to produce coded templates for use in the development of websites and online applications. In addition to markup and styling, the Front-End Developer will be responsible for writing javascript, AJAX and PHP functions that bring the pages to life and enhance user interactions. You must be self motivated to meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced development environment.

Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JS, PHP, MySQL

• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented programming

• Keep your skill set up-to-date and work in all the latest cutting edge development techniques

• Optimize code for usability, file size, traffic requirements and more

• Perform QA testing across browsers

• Ability to quickly identify the cause of cross-browser display issues and apply appropriate updates to code

General requirements:

• The ability to work without direct supervision, to make use of internal project management tools, to diligently record your hours in the timekeeping system, and to keep others aware of your schedule for planning purposes

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. There is always a better way to do things, and you must be influential in helping our team become more productive.

Nice-to-haves include the following:

• Experience using svn for code checkouts, version control, and deployment techniques

• Experience troubleshooting issues that occur at the server level, related to configuration, etc.

• Knowledge of SSO using jasig CAS

• Experience working with Akamai and other CDNs

• Experience with scalability issues and high performance web sites

• Experience with Drupal, Magento

• Experience working with Content Management Systems, E-Commerce frameworks, enterprise-level software packages and integrating between them

.NET Developer (Back Bay)

Brunello Creative–an award-winning Boston web design, development and marketing agency–is looking for a .NET developer to join our team.

In this full-time, on-site position, the .Net developer will collaborate closely with the marketing, design, and analytics teams to maintain, improve, and expand our client’s ecommerce operations.

While the candidate will initially be supporting only the US version of the client site, there are other sites for other languages that might eventually be brought under their responsibility in some form. They should understand the basics behind internationalization and developing/supporting multi-lingual web sites.

Requirements:

• 3+ years proven experience with ASP.NET, Visual Studio (2005 or greater), C#, and the .Net Framework

• Experience with or technical knowledge of aspdotnetstorefront

• Solid AJAX & RIA skills and experience

• Solid understanding of Web Browser differences and the development techniques for developing true cross browser compatible experiences (including Apple Safari).

• IIS configuration and management

• SQL Server configuration and management

• Solid understanding of relational databases and experience writing SQL queries

• Solid skills with and understanding of HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, and related web technologies.

• Knowledge and skills required to write secure code, and audit an correct existing code as needed to enforce proper security measures

• Good communication skills – including the ability to explain concepts of work requirements to non-technical people using non-geek language as needed.

• Self motivator with the ability to multi-task

• Ability to translate prototypes, wireframes, or rough UI sketches into real working code.

Responsibilities will include:

• Taking over the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and updating of an existing .NET C# online ecommerce website (built using aspdotnetstorefront)

• Integrating or developing with 3rd party APIs and/or web services

• Auditing and correcting code for security flaws

• Extending and/or Managing data models – including managing the related SQL Server databases – in order to support UI or business user needs.

• Managing configuration and setup of web sites on an IIS server that hosts multiple sites

• Management and updates to layout template code to implement changes required without causing the layout code to become fragile

• Managing server security implementation for pages with sensitive data (implement and force SSL, etc.)

• Working with designers to implement new design elements or UI components into the website(s) or modify existing layout or components on an ongoing basis

• Working with designers to implement special projects and new online initiatives.

• Management of eCommerce specific code and configuration files.

Candidates should have the skill and ability required to work on and create custom layout components as needed, integrate other 3rd party component libraries, and have strong enough HTML/Javascript skills to be able to custom code solid AJAX / RIA interactions within a .NET layout code-base that is modular (broken up into many files).

Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work with pre-existing layout templates and quickly assess what might need to be modified within the template layer to bring about desired layout modifications in the site. These templates are part of a larger CMS/ecommerce solution, and care will need to be taken to ensure modifications to a file that controls subsection of layout or will not interfere with other areas where that file might also be (re)used.
