Position Objective:

The Community Health Network (CHN) Information Systems Department is accepting applications for two (2) full-time, Permanent Exempt positions in class 1044 IS Engineer to function as the IS Transition Team Principal Network Engineer at Laguna Honda Hospital (LHH).

These positions are of a limited duration – up to six (6) months.

Essential Duties:

Under the direction of the IS Transition Team Project Director, and the CHN Chief Technology Officer, the qualified candidates will serve as lead network engineers performing all aspects of support and modifications of the data network at the newly constructed Laguna Honda Hospital.

These positions will require very rapid knowledge transfer from onsite consulting vendors that are completing the implementation of the CISCO Network Infrastructure. Therefore we expect to hire engineers with recent relevant experience using the same model or type of equipment.

The essential job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform monitoring and support of the complex network infrastructure of LHH;

• Perform network design;

• Manage other engineers and assign project tasks;

• Perform work breakdown of project tasks;

• Develop fully executable project implementation plans;

• Manage assignment of daily operational trouble tickets;

• Develop troubleshooting procedures;

• Create documentation to support new network implementation of applications and services;

• Work with multiple vendors to meet their implementation and support requirements;

• Be the first line support of all production network alerts and problems at LHH, utilize escalation procedures as necessary;

• Participate in joint problem solving discussions with internal IS Network Engineers, and external consultants/vendors;

• Follow and maintain SLA processes and procedures for troubleshooting, backup, and recovery;

• Adhere to security procedures and methods to ensure compliance by the data networks to Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and HITECH regulation;

• Work on the ongoing maintenance of data networking equipment and inventory; perform adds moves and changes as necessary;

• Participate in planning and execution of patient move plan. Assist on move days with reconnecting and testing of equipment. Troubleshoot problems and document repair issues;

• Communicates with the Project Director and internal engineering teams regularly and provides frequent status reports;

• This position may require participation in 24 hour on call support. The nature of the support will require the applicant to be able to perform configuration and support tasks;

• Performs other related duties as assigned/required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active CCNP or CCIE certification

Minimum Qualifications:

• A college undergraduate degree from an accredited college;

• At least 6-8 years minimum experience in monitoring and supporting large complex corporate network operations, verifiable network operations experience;

• Experience supporting data center network operations, performance monitoring and troubleshooting conventional and high density blade servers;

• Knowledge of current industry network implementation trends, design standards, security methods and effective problem-solving skills;

• Working knowledge of networking protocols and technology: TCP/IP, switching, routing, multicast, LAN, WAN, wireless, performance analysis and troubleshooting, packet capture and analysis, tapping and spanning; QOS; IPSec, VPNs, firewalls, SYSLOG, SNMP, wireless;

• Experience supporting and testing disaster recovery scenarios;

• The following products are implemented in the new LHH Hospital and we are seeking engineers with recent experience supporting: CISCO ASR, CISCO NEXSUS, CISCO VSS, CISCO FWSM, CISCO 6500 series, CISCO 4500 series, CISCO CSM CISCO NAC, CISCO MSE, CISCO WCS, CISCO AP, CISCO WISM, SPECTRALINK, AIRMAGNET, NETBOTZ, NETSCOUT, EMC, VMWARE, IRONPORT, NITRO SIEM, CHECKPOINT FIREWALL;
