3D and Shell Scripting – VEMG (North Hollywood)

The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, a Los Angeles based design college is one of the Art Institutes, America’s leader in postsecondary career-oriented education for the creative arts. The Art Institute of California – Hollywood is looking for a part-time instructor to teach in the Visual Effects and Motion Graphics program for our Summer Quarter which starts July 13th. The classes offered are GA3323 – 3D SCRIPTING and EM3271 – OPERATING SYSTEMS AND SHELL SCRIPTING. The GA3323 class is offered on Saturday afternoons from 1:00-5:00 pm and the EM3271 class is offered on Saturdays from 1:00-5:00 pm.

GA3323 (3D Scripting) – This course allows animators to automate tedious tasks and create effects that would be otherwise time-consuming in the traditional 3D key frame metholody. This course introduces students to scripting in a 3D package. Students will explore the pwoerful and diverse capabilities of 3D scripting.

EM3271 (Operating Systems and Shell Scripting) – Saturdays, 1-5pm. This course introduces students to the major operating systems used in computers and the fundamentals of writing shell scripts within the various operating systems. Students will learn to write shell scripts for specific design purposes. Linux or Windows and Cygwin. Bash shell, vi, emacs, C compiler.

Our classroom sizes are small, and our labs include the latest in technology and software. Preparing academic curriculum and developing lesson plans is an important part of this position.

• Candidates must have a Master’s level degree in visual effects/motion graphics or related disciplines.
• Candidates must have strong and in-depth industry experience.
• Previous experience in teaching at a post secondary school environment or training is highly desirable.
• Local candidates only (living in the greater Los Angeles area)

Web Design & Interactive Media Instructors (Flash) (North Hollywood)

The Art Institute of California – Hollywood is looking for a part-time instructor to teach Multi-User Authoring (MM3322) in the Web Design & Interactive Media program. Our classroom sizes are small, and our labs include both Mac and PC platforms, with Adobe CS4 and Apple web, design and video applications. We also have ancillary hardware and software available to students, including a green screen room, still and video cameras, and midi sound stations. Instructor will teach students how to work with the design interface of Dreamweaver as well as the ability to hand-code pages using XHTML and CSS. Lectures will include elements of design and industry “best practices” for creating standards based websites as well as considerations of web and mobile computing. Preparing academic curriculum and developing lesson plans is an important part of this position.

The classes are 4 hours in length and run for 11 weeks. Our Spring Quarter classes begin the week of April 5, 2010. This class is offered on Tuesday eveneings from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

• Candidates have a Master’s Degree to teach upper division class.
• Candidates must have strong high level expertise using Fash to create multi user applications with equal expertise in Flash programing using ActionScript 3.

• Previous experience in teaching at a post secondary school environment or training is highly desirable.
• Must have references and a professional portfolio documenting your work.

EM3381 (Matchmoving) This course introduces students to the various methods of matching the motion shot on a live action plate and applying that motion to a digital element. 2-D and 3-D tracking methods will be introduced. The course will also introduce students to morphing technology and methods by which elements can be seamlessly blended together within the frame. Skills required: Green screen, Discreet Combustion, Alias Maya, Adobe After Effects, and Final Cut Pro.

• Experience integrating enterprise content management software is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Excellent communications skills are necessary.

• Consulting Background is preferred; Big 4 experience is a plus.

• Candidates must be open to occasional travel.
