TITLE: Landscape Operations Manager I

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Landscape Operations Manager I works under the direction of an Operations Manager II and/or the Landscape General Manager, to manage landscape maintenance operations on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. Responsibilities include supervising a crew of approximately 22 full time workers, supervisors, crew leaders and maintenance workers, some with special needs, while delivering on contract commitments, achieving budget and assuring customer satisfaction. This role may also involve management responsibilities at other landscape maintenance sites in Contra Costa, Alameda and/or Marin counties.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum five years of commercial landscape operations management experience; an academic degree in business administration, operations management or horticulture is highly desirable. Minimum of three years of comprehensive supervisory experience required;
2. Background managing commercial landscape maintenance tasks including but not limited to irrigation, planting, turf maintenance, mowing, equipment operation and maintenance, pesticide use, and safety; and managing multiple work crews. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of applied horticulture, practices of landscape maintenance and safety;
3. Substantial customer relationship management experience with demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and provide practical, cost effective solutions;
4. Experience creating accurate estimates, detailed proposals, and assisting in contract negotiations;
5. Success in this position requires the incumbent to develop cooperative and trusted working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including customers, subordinates, coworkers and superiors; excellent management, problem solving and interpersonal, including oral and written communication skills and negotiating ability; patience and sensitivity working with special needs employees are critical qualifications for this position;
6. Computer and internet proficiency; Rubicon uses Microsoft Office;
7. This position requires the incumbent to be able to travel efficiently throughout the Bay Area including transporting personnel, tools and equipment to job sites. Proof of a valid and current driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1* Landscape Operations: Includes developing and implementing operational goals and objectives; budget planning and management; procurement, inventory management and equipment maintenance; grounds maintenance; safety, quality assurance and risk mitigation;
2* People Management: Includes resource planning; managing department hiring, skills development, performance management and supervision including of employees with special needs;
3* Estimates and Proposals: Includes creating accurate estimates, generating viable proposals, and actively participating in contract negotiations;
4* Managing Contracts for profitability, timely execution and customer satisfaction;
5* Customer Relationship Management
6. Record Keeping and Reporting including cost sheets, timesheets, charge and receipt records, and purchase orders. Also includes reporting opportunities, risks, unusual events, changes, progress against operational goals & objectives;
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, exempt position.
