Trulia.com: Software Engineer, Backend
Trulia is looking for an innovative engineer to help build and maintain our email infrastructure. The ideal candidate has worked in the email space before but this is not required. We are more interested in hiring smart people that have the desire to learn and are highly self motivated. In this hugely important engineering role, you will be working closely with our Marketing, Business Services, Front End, and data Acquisition teams to support Trulias ongoing efforts in driving user engagement, leads, and revenue. You will be tasked with ongoing core software design, development, and maintenance involving working with a tight engineering team committed to a creative approach to email infrastructure

Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the technical design, implementation and maintenance of existing and new email infrastructure.
- Work directly with product and marketing team to develop new emails and products.
- Ensure high deliverability rates, and manage reputations and relationships with larger ISPs.
- Take high level business initiatives/concepts and translate in to working emails delivered to hundreds of thousands of people hourly
- Optimization and scalability of existing systems and development process
- Act as a liaison interdepartmentally advocating email best practices with key stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 2 years experience in a professional engineering environment
- 0 1 years exposure to email great to have
- Strong object oriented programming skills and knowledge of Unix/Linux and scripting skills.
- Deep knowledge of Php, Html, and Mysql with a functional understanding of Java.
- Experience with web services architecture, software as a service(SAAS). SOAP/REST
- Familiar with Strongmail or similar mail software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to understand complex data sets and help derive new ways to use that data to engage customers even more.
Nice to have:
- JMS queuing technologies, specifically ActiveMq.
- Experience interacting with Salesforce API
- Have a solid background in bulk/mass marketing email systems and configurations.
