Yahoo! Software Engineer, DHTML Ninja (sunnyvale)

Position: Software Engineer, DHTML Ninja

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job ID: 31472

About Yahoo!

Think about impacting 1 out of every 2 people online — in innovative and imaginative ways that are uniquely Yahoo!. We do just that each and every day, and you could too. After all, it’s big thinkers like you who will create the next generation of Internet experiences for consumers and advertisers across the globe. Now’s the time to show the world what you’ve got. Put your ideas to work for over half a billion people.

About Business Group or Product:

Are you a DHTML ninja? Do you try to make tip of tree webkit builds break and grind to a halt just for fun? Remove properties and methods from objects just to see what it does to Chrome’s V8 performance? Is the CSS box model second nature? If so, does it hurt you deeply? Do you optimize your DOM manipulation based on what will cause reflow (and curse when reflow happens when it shouldn’t)? Have you read both of Souders books? What JS libraries do you use to manage cross browser issues, and why did you choose it/them over the other options? What do you think of GWT?

We need a DHTML ninja to join my team working on some new stuff at Yahoo! in Messenger and Mail. We’re pushing lots of boundaries on web, desktop, and mobile products. This position is focused on front end client side code, both mobile and desktop, but we’ve got the ability to tailor the server side to reach our goals.

Required:

- At least 5 years development experience in DHTML; Javascript, HTML, CSS
- At least 5 years developing across multiple browsers and engines

Nice to Have:

- Server side experience, PHP, C++, Java, Python
