About the Job:

Join our small, agile backend team, configuring different systems, conducting backups and ensuring that all systems are properly administered.
Be proactive and responsive to any IT issues that arise.

Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day management of 40+ Linux servers and on-call support.
Configure software load balancers.
Work with monitoring tools (Munin, Nagios) to provide insight to production systems.
Maintain server software with latest upgrades and fixes.
Handle all server software security matters, including auditing existing procedures and developing new policies.
Troubleshoot application and environment issues and ensure that system availability, performance and other services level agreements are met.
Manage user accounts across all environments.
Future responsibilities may include capacity planning for servers.

Requirements:

4+ years of experience working as a Systems Administrator in a Linux environment.
Maintained a minimum of 40 servers, with a strong knowledge of how to scale to hundreds of servers.
Experience configuring load balancers, handling backups, working with networking protocols and firewalls.
Experience with taking raw MySQL data snapshots for backup and syncing raw data files to introduce new MySQL slaves and masters. Knowledgeable with tuning memory buffers and troubleshooting overall mysql performance.
Familiarity with establishing disaster mitigation and recovery procedures for mysql and basically any layer of a web application
Experience dealing with RAID and the associated challenges
Self-starter, with a positive attitude and willingness to work with a flexible schedule and play multiple roles in a start-up environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities.

 

Nice to haves:
