We build our systems around a wide spectrum of software, from embedded firmware (in assembly and C) to web interfaces (in Ruby on Rails). Projects or Job Wanted: Software Engineer, C++, Python, Agile (palo alto)

14 yrs of experience. Mostly R&D projects, scientific HW/SW systems. Mostly C++/MFC and Python on Windows. Some Java, Linux, Android. Fan of agile methods, including automated unit & functional tests. BS Physics. BA Mathematics/Economics. 30 units of Computer Science. Not a web expert, but some experience, and anxious to dive in.

While I can work in a wide variety of environments, my sweet spot is on a small highly-collaborative team working on something new and difficult. I’ve worked on a number of world’s-first projects, where there was no obvious way forward, other than diving in, getting a minimal system working, and then iteratively evolving the feature set. It was a joy to learn new domains, tools, languages, and libraries along the way.

MapMyFitness seeking Front-End Web Developer (Denver, CO)

MapMyFitness, Inc is looking for a front-end developer with experience in Javascript (jQuery), AJAX, and HTML/CSS Templating to help us with a project immediately. You may know of MapMyFitness through our two more popular sites: MapMyRun.com and MapMyRide.com.

We are one of the top fitness destinations on the web and are a 3 year old company (site has been online for around 5 years)

MapMyFitness is a downtown Denver-based early stage company and we’re looking for an experienced full-time web developer to join our technical team. This is a full-time position (contract-to-hire) based in Denver, CO and you’ll be working with our team right downtown (we’re located right next to Market St Bus Station so perfect for the Park’n'Ride)

The role would be ideal for someone with a Computer Science or Engineering background, who happens to share our misguided belief that the web is a vast and wonderful playground. It would be perfect if you are a Python Ninja and have worked extensively in one of the many frameworks like Django or a simlar MVC framework. If you’ve never worked in python but can beautifully handcode css designs and love being xhtml compliant and have worked extensively with other types of scripting languages like php, ruby, etc. then please apply! You’ll play a vital part in turning creative ideas into beautifully coded implementations that can handle high traffic volumes across the social and mobile spectrum. Sound like you? Then read on.

We’re after someone who isn’t deterred by a challenge and can show evidence of their long-term interest in web technologies – for example, through involvement in Open Source projects. You’ll be involved in projects throughout their life-cycle, from early creative ideas through budgeting, technical planning and coding. We are building our python implementation from scratch so you’ll get your ideas implemented on the ground floor! You’ll also get to work alongside some extremely talented and inspiring people, if we do say so ourselves.

So what do we expect you to know?

Required
* Knowledge of HTML, CSS + sophisticated Javascript using jQuery or similar (CSS3 would be a plus)
* Extensive expertise with Browser quirks and IE6 work arounds (yes, IE6)
* Extensive expertise working within a programing framework (Ruby on Rails, Drupal, Joomla, PHP’s Zend, Symphony, CakePHP)
* Experience of working with version control systems (Subversion, Mercurial or similar)
* Interest in ‘programming the web’ and web services
* Familiarity with testing frameworks (primarily unit and load testing)

Include a Resume and references to some of your work. If you have a blog that’s often a useful reference too.

Neither 3rd parties nor remote parties will be responded to due to volume and interest.

Python Guru (SOMA / south beach)

We are an exciting venture backed analytics startup based in San Francisco working on some of the most cutting edge problems in the gaming space.

http://www.businessweek.com/the_thread/techbeat/archives/2009/12/want_a_job_anal.html

Scalable machine learning, cloud computing, hadoop , long polling, the fun stuff we do it all.

We are looking for someone with Pythonic way of viewing code, who can drive a product, is not afraid to try new technologies and out of the box thinking to solve problems. You spend your spare time reading PEPs, think list comprehensions are addictive, worked on python web frameworks like Django, pylons…you even downloaded and tested out tornado to see what the fuss was about, and have some opinions on Python-3.

You must be well versed with building a web front-end as well like understanding the intricacies of CSS, using Javascript libraries but are not completely dependent on them, you may have written some native Javascript code that would make Resig proud of including it as a plugin OR atleast your favorite javascript book is Crockford’s “Javascript, The good parts”.

We are very early stage, so your view and your code and your thoughts will make all the difference.

We believe in the python paradox :) http://paulgraham.com/pypar.html

That being said, do you like Lisp ?
