We are currently seeking a Revenue Manager for our San Francisco, CA office.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition accounting pronouncements including SOP 81-1, SOP 98-9, SOP 97-2, SAB 101, SAB 104, FTB 90-1, and EITF 00-21.
- Determine and document the Company’s revenue treatment for each contract and work actively with external auditors to ensure that revenue recognition interpretations are consistent and compliant with GAAP and prepare contract checklists and accompanying documentation for each customer supporting the accounting treatment.
- Perform VSOE for the Company’s multiple element arrangements.
- Understand and manage impact of incurred cost rate changes on revenue recognition and projections.
- Support and review customer contracts, amendments, SOW’s in connection with Sales and Legal personnel in contract design and negotiations to create good business deals and to avoid unforeseen revenue recognition issues. Primary responsibility in this area will focus on software contracts with oversight on the pure consulting contracts.
- Perform variance analysis between forecast and actual revenue. Ensure that software revenue, unbilled A/R and deferred revenue are being closed timely and reconciled accurately to the G/L. Review all software related balance sheet, revenue and cost of sales reconciliations.
- Liaise with the project accounting team to address any areas of concern on revenue setup / recognition.
- Create and review reports related to monthly Bookings, Backlog and Backlog Rollout for Software License, Implementation, Consulting and Analysis, Hosting and Maintenance.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly analytics of changes in revenue and cost of sales and variances from annual budget/quarterly forecasts by software product line. Support back end operations for revenue transactions and provide business analysis and internal reporting for Senior Management. Also, partner with the sales team and undertake revenue forecasting and financial modeling.
- Prepare and maintain the SOX documentation for revenue and related processes.
- Prepare audit schedules for the external audit.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in accounting; CPA preferred
- Understanding of project oriented revenue recognition and project based ERP systems and reporting
- Minimum of five to seven years of extensive experience with a SaaS or similar company
- Big Four accounting experience with software clients is a plus
- Extensive experience with SOP 97-2, 98-1, SAB 101, 104, EITF 00-21, and EITF 08-01; strong familiarity with VSOE concepts
- Strong ability to partner and work effectively with Sales, Contracts, Professional Services and Accounting departments at all levels within the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Detail oriented, deadline driven, independent, flexible, self directed and enthusiastic
- Costpoint knowledge a plus

Life Technologies as an immediate need for a Manager of Accounting for our Foster City, CA location.
The Manager of Revenue Recognition and Technical Accounting is primarily responsible for global revenue recognition processes that ensure sales, collaboration, and licensing transactions are in accordance with the Companys revenue recognition accounting policies.
MUST have Strong communication, analytical, and writing skills are required as the manager will be a key contact with the business, finance, licensing, and legal to ensure revenue related transactions are in accordance with revenue recognition policies. This department will also partner closely with corporate accounting to assess complex revenue transactions, and to refine revenue recognition policies.
Also as required, the manager will research, and provide direction on technical accounting issues that may arise during the ordinary course of business, and as a result restructurings, acquisitions, or divestitures.
A minimum 10 years of related work experience, and a CPA are required. Previous experience with Biotechnology companies, SAP, and advanced Excel skill is preferred.

Position Description
Responsible for managing all facets of revenue recognition in respective geographies. Maintain and enforce revenue recognition policy, including review and advise on departments (Sales, Consulting, Product Management, etc.) revenue strategies and policies. Review and advise on individual deals to ensure company revenue objectives are met in accordance with documented revenue recognition rules and principles Responsible for training of Sales, Legal, FP&A and other groups on ongoing and evolving revenue recognition principles. Ensure proper recording, tracking and reporting of bookings and revenues. Facilitate, maintain and coordinate forecasting and management reporting for current quarter revenues Provide management reporting support for historical regional revenues Review regional monthly revenue–recorded by revenue accounting team–for reasonableness and completeness. Continually coach and teach regional revenue accountants on revenue recognition to raise their understanding. Provide front line support during external audit of OPWV. Continually work with SCO team to improve its customer service and processes to increase SCO effectiveness and efficiency.
Position Requirements
BA degree in Accounting or Finance 8+ years of progressive accounting management experience.
2 years of Public Accounting (Big 4) preferred
Strong knowledge of Excel Strong knowledge of SOP 97-2 and 98-1
Good analytical skills, problem-solving skills, creative skills and resourcefulness to manage the financial function.
Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to determine best financial approach, to maintain budget controls and to supervise a professional staff. Strong oral and written communications skills.
