POSITION OVERVIEW
The Office of Information Technology to the United States District Court, Central District of California, Western Division, is currently accepting applications for the position of Programmer/Analyst: SharePoint Software Engineer. The Office of Information Technology provides services to more than 500 employees.
The SharePoint Software Engineer is a new position within the United States District Court for the Central District of California. As the SharePoint Software Engineer, you will join a small but highly motivated team in the design and development of a mission critical Microsoft© SharePoint 2007-based intranet solution.
This position requires experience in both developing and deploying all aspects of SharePoint 2007 into a production server environment, as well as experience developing custom web parts. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of SharePoint. This is a hands-on software engineering position requiring a results oriented person with strong leadership skills, excellent problem solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must be able to exercise mature judgment and to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Attention to detail is critical.
The Central District of California has courthouses in Los Angeles, Santa Ana and Riverside. The position will be located in Los Angeles, with travel between all three courthouses required. This position will join a staff of thirty technology professionals, and will report to the IT Development Supervisor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with clerks office staff to identify SharePoint application implementation strategy and process improvement opportunities;
Consulting with key individuals to determine requirements and perform systems design;
Applying SharePoint technology to solve identified problems and building efficiencies emerging from work with court employees;
Coordinating or performing execution of test plans, conversion plans and training plans;
Providing technical expertise to identify, evaluate, and develop effective security procedures and systems requirements to meet identified needs;
Applying best practices of software engineering, including proper code standards, proper testing, and proper release procedures;
Developing and maintaining documentation of SharePoint environment;
Communicating effectively with all court employees;
Providing oral and written status reports to management and clerks office teams;
Providing guidance and assistance to less experienced IT team members;
Performing routine support and troubleshooting of SharePoint environment, as necessary;
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED – GENERAL
Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Experience working with internal business processes and developing detailed plans on how to effectively deploy SharePoint throughout an enterprise environment.
Outstanding technical skills and ability to implement best practices in SharePoint development.
Web application development.
Standards based project management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED – TECHNOLOGIES
Three plus years of experience in the development and administration of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007.
Three plus years of SharePoint development and implementation experience primarily focused on the creation of custom work flows and web parts.
Extensive experience with development of web based applications using .NET, C#, VB, and ADO.NET.
Ability to effectively manage SharePoint 2007 environment to ensure content is appropriately constructed and maintained.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Microsoft SQL Server version 2005 and 2008.
Microsoft Office 2007.
Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) version 3.0.
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS).
Extensible Markup Language (XML).
Active Server Pages (ASPX).
Microsoft SharePoint Designer.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
Experience with development of web based applications utilizing HTML, PHP 5.0+, VBScript, AJAX, CSS, JavaScript, and Drupal (Java programming is a plus).
Knowledge of Informix and Perl.
Knowledge of Lotus Domino.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidate must be able to bend, pull, push and lift up to 40 pounds, reach, walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods, with or without accommodation.
